LifeandLeadership.com Summary

This is an outstanding book of time-tested skills for any couple from the newly engaged to long-time marrieds who want to resolve conflicts. The content of the book is based on the nationally recognized program called PREP (Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program) that has been featured on nationally televised programs and prominent newspapers and magazines.

In their study, the authors followed over 135 couples for twelve years. Evaluations were conducted through multiple, extensive interviews and videotaping of the couple’s interactions over the years, which were then reviewed by a team of researchers. From this data, they were able to differentiate those who do well over time from those who do not, with 80 to 91 percent accuracy. One of the most significant predictors of marital success was the ability to manage conflict constructively. Healthy conflict resolution procedures are presented, along with a number of other helpful exercises to enhance other areas of the marriage relationship. This is a biblically integrated Christian version of the PREP Inc. research, and is an indispensable tool for couples who want a more fulfilling marriage.
