LifeandLeadership.com Summary

This volume, written Johnson University Professor, Dr. Daniel Overdorf, provides a very practical guide for congregations who love their ministers and want to do everything they can to “share in all good things” with them. He says, “I wish every minister could receive as much blessing as my family and I received from churches and church leaders. Many have, but sadly, many others have not.” (11) He then develops eight affirmations churches should repeat frequently and act on consistently to support their ministers: “We love you,” “We stand behind you,” “We respect you,” “We value your ministry,” “We seek your best,” “We seek your family’s best,” “To our incoming ministers: We welcome you,” and “To our outgoing ministers: We thank you.” This book is full of warm insight and practical ideas on how churches may secure a more productive ministry from their staff. Several side-bars and idea boxes are placed throughout. Highly recommended.
