LifeandLeadership.com Summary

Ken Gangel is one of the most respected authors in church leadership, drawing from his experience in academia, consulting, and ministry practice. This book is similar in scope to the multi-edition encyclopedic volume, Team Leadership in Christian Ministry, but through a more definitive and prescriptive rubric of coaching ministry teams. The first book is a weightier text on the complex dynamics of team-based ministry. this one is lighter and written more to those who coach the teams. There is overlap in material, but enough difference that one would need both volumes to distill Gangel’s insights on the subject. Perhaps the best use is for training leaders who would resonate with the athletic analogy. In that respect, it is similar to Jim Putnam, Church is a Team Sport, though one may find better biblical and theoretical integration in Gangel.
